Kerstin Rolfe, MA Education Student Testimonial
Can you talk a little bit about yourself and your background?
My name is Kerstin Rolfe; I am a Principal of a small Higher Education Institution. I have a varied background starting as a Registered Nurse and then moving into medical research and completing a PhD. I have studied a number of postgraduate distance learning courses in the past from different institutions.
What prompted you to pursue an online programme with University of Exeter? Specifically, why was online appealing to you?
I chose the online programme with Exeter as the University has an excellent reputation academically and the course appeared to be interesting and academically stimulating. I enjoy online learning as working full time I find online teaching you can fit it around your other commitments.
What has the experience been like? Was it what you thought it would be like and has it met your expectations?
The course itself I enjoyed every minute. I found the course stimulating and academically challenging everything I wanted from the course. Though an online course due to the way the course is set up, you get to meet other students who are spread worldwide. You hear their experience in education, and it was a great support network. The lecturers and the administration staff are fantastic with their support and understanding. I really could not have asked for more.
If you were giving someone who was considering an online course advice, what would it be?
I suppose motivation can always be an issue with online courses, but if the course is stimulating enough, then motivation is not a problem. This course fulfilled that, but I also make sure I set specific days to work on the course.
Would you recommend the Exeter programme and if so what aspects of the course do you find appealing?
I really could not recommend the course and the staff enough. I am very sad to be now finishing as the course has been an enjoyable experience.
