
The University of Exeter Receives Global Recognition in Recent Rankings
The University of Exeter has received recognition as a premier international university. QS, the global authority in university rankings for careers and education, placed Exeter inside the top 200 universities worldwide. Exeter has been ranked highly for its outstanding teaching, faculty, research and innovative curriculum than in previous years.
Award Details
Exeter has been ranked 163rd in the QS World University Rankings for 2020. The study revealed the world’s largest and most extensive international league table of universities. The study identified three areas of significant improvement for Exeter:
- Student to staff ratio
- Number of international students
- Academic reputation.
With its favourable student to staff ratio, Exeter continues to provide specialised attention to its student body. Its enhanced academic reputation has attracted students from all over the world, ensuring that diversity is a tenet of the institution both.
QS World University and Business School Rankings
For over 16 years, the QS World University Rankings have published and used data that compares the world's top universities and how they provide students with an educational foundation for a successful career. The rankings comprise data on: student to staff ratio, academic reputation, citations per faculty, reputation among employers, international student numbers and faculty. It is widely regarded as one of the top university rankings in the world. The rankings use data from over 13 million academic papers, as well as 70,000 academics and 40,000 employers’ responses.
The Exeter Difference
The most recent top-200 position reflects the University of Exeter’s excellence across both undergraduate and postgraduate levels of study. This recent ranking adds to a series of accolades that the university has received for its substantive expertise and teaching. A few examples are:
- This latest international ranking follows the recent announcement that Exeter secured 10th position in the influential Guardian University Guide 2020.
- The University also enjoyed considerable success in individual subject league tables published in the latest Guardian University Guide 2020 – with four subjects ranked in the top 5, eight in the top 10 and 25 in the top 20.
- Exeter’s subjects across the sciences and humanities were also recognised as being among the very best in the UK, with 37 subjects ranked in the top 20 - including 27 in the top ten - in the latest Complete University Guide 2020, released last month.
